First Update
Villainess Life Simulator is my first game and something I'm tackling alone so updates are quite slow. However I decided to first update the shopping options. Now you can buy homes, mines, jewellery, pets, carriages and see it all in your inventory.
The game is set around the 1700s in a fantasy world so I researched items and prices from that time period. (I somehow discovered a man's diary from the 1600s who kept writing every day for several years.)
I found it tricky to price items. At first the money system reflected present day pounds. So £1 is more or less 1 coin. Buying a house would cost 10k coins to 200k coin (£10k - £200k) depending on the quality. But those high numbers just took up unnecessary space on the screen.
I then tried to create a money system with two different coin types. This way a house could cost 40 crowns and 100 sceptres. However I don't like to complicate things. Creating a whole money system would take time away that I could spend improving the gameplay.
In the end I settled on a system that reflected 1700s Europe where maids were paid £15 a year.
I will likely adjust prices in the future so that buying a house and paying for a doctor have appropriate costs. But for now I'll leave things as they are and work on my next update. :)
